Sad Day For Fun
Well myself and about 8 or 9 others have been banned from UKS for a week for "orchastrated bullying" As I said in my blog yesterday it was not orchastrated but merely a situation coming to a head. Many people have been pissed off with the inane and pointless threads that seem to be taking over UKS. I am really upset at the announcement in UKS that makes it look like we are bullies and that we had planned the whole thing. We did not plan it, no matter what anyones alleged blog entry said! I am guilty of creating a poll regarding "what is your favourite season" and for contributing to the polls of others and that's it. I am appalled at the way we have been treated however I am overwhelmed by the support people have given the banned members, many people choosing not to go to UKS for a week in protest.
My future with UKS? Well I need to think long and hard about that but at the moment its not a place I want to be.

No it wasn't organised. I have nothing to lose or gain by speaking out on this - I have wanted to leave UKS for a while now and won't be going back. There were no "meetings", "agreements", "discussions" or anything else of the sort before the polls and silly threads were posted. One just led to another.
People seem to be taking Clare's blog as "evidence" that it was organised. That entry has been removed now but I recall she said something like "It was not organised .... but then it got organised". I knew what she meant although she didn't express it very well. She probably didn't realise the degree of scrutiny that entry would come under. And no matter how much she has tried to explain since, people are refusing to believe anything but the worst. That is a reflection on them.
As far as I am aware none of the banned members has been given an opportunity to state their case or respond to the accusations (and verdict) thrown at them. Isn't that bullying? Ganging up on people WHO CAN'T DEFEND THEMSELVES?
I guess the measue of this decision is the degree of contempt with which it has been received by many of the UKS members and former members. But don't expect an apology anyone. The mods on UKS are never wrong; unlike normal mortals they never make mistakes.

A heart of a forum is its chat - and guess what? the chat at uks is now CRAP to read and no one wants to join in any more. The fun is non exsistant, the spirit has gone, its joyless and morbid and oh so depressing. Thats the point that everyone is making. I will find my fun, chat and much needed laughter with my friends and other like-minded people elsewhere from now on and the rest of you can go 'enjoy' the sad and depressing crap thats left, and you are more than welcome to it all. I would not associate with people who bring me down or make me irritated irl, and I have no intention of doing so on a forum I go to looking for PLEASURE! let the minority spoil it for the majority.....
and for the record, I actually agree with a punishment, I dont think we should have did what we did (regardless of whether people believe it was organised or not), and we deserve to be punished accordingly, and I do support the mods in making that descision and told them so, but I do feel the ban is somewhat hypocrytical and OTT. However I do know that they feel much the same about the way the forum is going that we do, and feel sorry they have to deal with the backlash.

Some people just can't get enough attention or sympathy it would seem....the very same people who not so long ago themselves posted vicious and attacking words on a recent thread and didnt even get slapped wrists, as they were just "expressing their own opinions".
I do sometimes read these ridiculous posts cos they give me a good laugh as they get more and more ludicrous by the day. Some peeps certainly have rich imaginations. Anyhoo, sorry to prattle on and clink clink to having fun I say :) and now I'm just off to figure out how asking someone which season is their favourite is offensive! (Winter is mine BTW!)

First of all - was totally shocked about the ban, Elaine! NEVER EVER are you a bully!!! You're one of the kindest people I know and I am glad to count to to my little group of friends.

Sorry ladies - I missed it all - heavy date with the family - but yes a tad heavy handed to call a bit of light hearted fun, bullying especially as the alleged victim was totally unaware of it (where's the angry blinkie when you need it?) Isn't it sad when everyone feels the need to take offence on somone else's behalf!
The comment that the majority suffer for the sake of the minority is so true - UKS seems to be being run more and more for a select few with their own personal agendas and the "needy". Let's petition them to get rid of the community board and get back to being a community of SCRAPPERS!

Hi, I dont know any of you very well, but just had to say that I know 'where your coming from' in regards to the UKS community boards of late! I've turned into a bit of a lurker , as Im not up to joining in swaps/cjs and challenges, I havent scrapped in months so theres not really much else left but to read the posts and view the gallery, but I havent felt like joining the chat either as I just cant get my head around some of the posts or even some of the people there either!!!!! ........... BUT I hope you will ALL return and continue to make it a happy place once again. :) It's really strange not 'seeing' the regulars around and I miss reading your posts!!! You have all had me in stitches on SOO many occasions, brightening up my days no end!
I have never in the time I have been a member of UKS seen any of you bullying or come across as bullying................that is a strong word , and Im glad that MA ammended her comments/statement.
