Bead Mania

Lyzzy this is deffo your fault! Been buying some beads from a lovely online store and this is the first thing I made. Will be taking the rest of the beads on holiday with me so I can potter whilst I relax.

Un-Jobby-believable

We had a complaint from a guest about a smell in the first floor corridor. I went up to investigate and discovered behind a door in the corridor in a little corner a huge almost black jobby!! I cannot believe that someone would shit in a public corridor.

My housekeeper has since discovered that it probably belongs to the same person who is in one of our rooms, as he has left evidence in his bathroom of a similar distinct colour.

I now need to speak to the group leader from the particular group of business men this evening, I love my job.

Little Red Scrapbook

Further to my previous post regarding ordering the new kit I ordered wanted to say that I am deeply disappointed with their company. I ordered on the 2nd February for the new kit. I got confirmation confirming my order. A week later I received an e-mail saying that the address I gave did not match my credit card. This was not true so I e-mailed them my full address as given on the form. I waited and still no kit. I checked my credit card statement and no deductions had been made so I e-mailed the company. Today I finally received another e-mail from them telling me that they ran out of stock and I would not be getting one of their kits.

Why the hell did their website show availability then? Friends of mine also ordered the kit several days after me and now they are all e-mailing the company to find out if they are getting a kit.

I was really looking forward to this kit it was totally my colours etc, I feel very let down by The Little Red Scrapbook company and will not be ordering from them in future.

Happy Valentines Day Kate

Happy Valentine's Day Kate. This is the 14th Valentine's card I have made for you I am glad you love the accordian card.

I adore our tradition of homemade cards, I especially love your cards that you make as you are not a crafter at all. The year of the glued on love heart sweets was one of my favourites and this years "ode to peel offs" is so cute.

I look forward to making may more valentine cards for you over the years. xxx

Yummy new stampsmith goodies

I Ordered some scrummy stampsmith stamps and they arrived last week. They are gorgeous, here is the piccie of them. Just need to get some EZ mount to get them stamping, well that is my excuse for another shopping expedition.

My internet access has been limited as my wireless access has been intermittent and it is driving me nuts. Other people have the tv on in the background I like to have my internet on with msn for all my friends to catch me.

The Scrap-a-ganza forum is going brilliantly we have nearly 90 members all ready. Thanks to Heidi the event organisor for disseminating the url. Its great having everyone on so we can hype each other up, by May I think I will be hysterical rofl.

Scrap-a-ganza

Have managed to choose what classes I wish to attend, there are too many good ones. I did have 11 picked and then someone (Debbie I blame you) was talking about the album classes and I had to do one of them so that was an extra three classes. I culled a class so my total is 13. I cannot wait till 19th May.

As there was nowhere for us all to chat and get excited about the event I created a forum for Scrap-a-ganza chat it is going well so far.

I Hate Tuesdays

We have had our gorgeous flat on the market for nearly a year now. Why the market slowed down when we decided to sell I will never know.

The Estate Agent is baffled as to why we have not sold as the flat is in beautiful condition. They actually thought it would sell in under a month when we first put it on the market. The sad thing is as our tenant did not want to live in a flat that was for sale we have had no income from the flat even though we are still paying mortgage etc. I cannot wait for it to sell and really hope that it happens very soon.

We have open viewing every Sunday from 2-4pm it just seems such an effort as every week Kate or I needs to head to the other side of the city for it. The people that come to view could just be coming to nosey, or they are viewing other properties in the area.

Anyway Sunday rolls round and we get a lot of viewings, we get our hopes up that someone will buy, Tuesday is usually Note of Interest day so on a Tuesday if you don't hear anything that usually means no-one is interested.

I wrote the above and then we got a note of interest lol sods law. Will keep fingers crossed and hope it all goes through for a sale completion.

So what do you think altered art really is?

This was an interesting question posed on forum that I visit. I would be interested to know other peoples opinions, this was my reponse:

I am an artist, an alterer, a scrapbooker and a card maker, overall I think of myself as an artist. I love everything creative and whilst I understand the definitions made "that to alter something is to change its use, and everything else is decoration" does it really matter what people call their work? If each piece is a unique form be it an oil canvas, a scrapbook page or an altered domino does it really matter what it is called?

Ideally there should be no snobbery in creativity. Why should people be boxed, if someone wants to call their work altered is that not progression at least they are seeing it as something they have created and have obviously put thought, time and energy into the piece. We as the viewers decide what each piece means to us, be it art, craft, altered or alternative. I know that I might spend months on a painting, a 5 year old creates a painting in class that takes 10 minutes. They are still both paintings and are still both art.

All art is subjective and whilst I might adore a piece of work, the person next to me might hate it and not think of it as art at all. This to me is what art is about - to create pleasure, displeasure and most of all to create discussion.

23 sleeps!

Only 23 sleeps to go till Kate and I can get away on holiday, its been a long time coming. Although we went away to Spain 5 times last year it was for a long weekend or a week at a time. This time we will be going for 2 weeks Woooooo Hoooooooo. The last time we had two weeks off was 2004!

Life has been so busy at the hotel and with the various staff problems etc last year we could just not get away. Cannot wait for the end of february to come. Two weeks of rest and relaxation....bliss. Although I wonder how many times the hotel will call us, we normally get at least 2 calls when we are away. What do they think we will do, fly back to Scotland to sort it all?

Class Lists

Just trying to get my class lists together for the new term in the Craft Shop. I have so many ideas that I want to do and poor Rebekkah I keep adding to my wish list for my classes.

As well as doing my usual scrapbooking classes, I am venturing into old territory with card ones and new territory with altered art ones (ATC's etc) It is a really good mix that should keep me interested and hopefully keep the attendee's interested too.

It also means more work for me in creating examples etc but I am sure I can manage.

Altered Scrappers

I have been invited to join some of my friends in creating a new blog with scrapping and altering challenges, the name of this blog is Altered Scrappers. I am thrilled to be asked as the group of people I am joining are mega talented this means I will have to raise my game!! We will posting challenges on a regular basis and publishing them on the blog, as well as encouraging others to try as well.

We all volunteered Jane to post the first challenge. She wanted us all to alter dominoes. Here are my attempts. (click on the piccie to get full sized pictures)
